Boyle County Schools LogoA superb educational system is one of the many special distinctions of the Danville - Boyle County area. The number of students who go on to excel speaks to the quality of the educational system. Centre College is rated as one of the country's top 50 liberal arts colleges. U.S. News and World Report selected Centre College as the 4th - best value among national liberal arts colleges. Centre is also ranked by Money Magazine among the top 50 "Best Buys" - institutions that "provide the best education in America for the prices they charge".

Both Boyle County Public Schools and Danville Independent Schools are highly regarded for excellence in programs, and student achievement. Danville High School has earned the prestigious National School of Excellence award and Hogsett Elementary School was selected as Redbook magazine’s America’s 100 Best Schools. Woodlawn Elementary has been designated a National School of Excellence and a
Computer Curriculum Corporation Model of Success site.

Kentucky School for the Deaf is one of the most respected schools for the deaf in the nation. The school serves as the statewide educational resource center on deafness.

Several private elementary and middle schools are also located in Danville and the surrounding area. Danville Christian Academy and Central Kentucky Christian School are both available as alternatives to public education, as well as the Montessori Elementary and Montessori Middle school systems.

The Boyle County area is home to several satellite campuses including: Eastern Kentucky University, Asbury College, Berea College, Campbellsville College, Midway College, Lexington Community College and Transylvania College. Several technical schools including Central Kentucky Technical College, Midway School of Nursing and Kentucky College of Business are also located in the Danville - Boyle County area.

In addition to the schools mentioned above, the Danville area has an excellent Community Education Program supported by educational facilities, citizens, and organizations that believe in the importance of education at all ages. The Danville Adult Education & Literacy Center at Danville High School offers adult reading programs, GED/Basic Education, One-on-One tutoring for adults, and English as a Second Language classes. All books, materials, and lessons are free. Call 859-238-1303 for more information.
